Masjid Putra or Putra Mosque were named after first Prime Minister of Malaysia that is Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj which is the main landmark of Putrajaya. The position of this mosque is beside of Dataran Putra and face Tasik Putrajaya. From this mosque, a lot of beautiful scenery of lake and the area within can be seen. Almost all of this mosque area was surrounded by the lake. This makes Putra Mosque looks floating on the surface of the lake. Apart from that it also allows fresh air blowing in from the lake to cool down the mosque. Putra Bridge and The Prime Minister Complex can also be seen clearly from this mosque.
On the whole, the concept of the Putra Mosque is based on the ancient kingdom of Persia Safawe architecture. This traditional architecture were used to harmonize changes of rectangular shape ( Dewan Solat ) to form spherical ( Dome ) to introduce in octagonal shape as an intermediate form. There is also a tower that stands 116 feet tall at the left of Putra Mosque gate. Eight corners of a star shape clearly demonstrated superiority of Islamic architecture and its intricately. There are five floors in the tower divider to symbolize the five pillars of Islam and five time for the prayer.
This mosque are having so many visitor from inside and also outside of Malaysia. The unique structure and also the beautiful surrounding makes this mosque as the tourist attraction in Malaysia.
