Masjid Istiqlal or Istiqlal mosque is a landmark of muslim in Indonesia. This mosque is located in Jakarta, Indonesia. This mosque was the biggest mosque in South East Asian. The idea for this mosque were created by Soekarno who was the president of this republic. The process takes place starting on 24 August 1951.
The location of this mosque is at Wilhelmina Park, at south east of Medan Merdeka which is the place for Monumen Nasional or Monas. This mosque have 5 floor at total and 1 more floor as the ground floor. This mosque has a modern style building with walls and floors are fully made of marble and the decoration are in geometric form which made from stainless steel. The mosque also has the largest with measure of 45 meters and propped up by 12 huge pillars. In the southern corner of the mosque is a column about 96.66 meters long.
This mosque can accommodate nearly 200 000 people for each time. This mosque name that is "Istiqlal" are taken from arab words which means as freedom.
